HxC issues with firmware versions greater than 1.8.2.40
Re: HxC issues with firmware versions greater than 1.8.2.40
I see another floppy disk drive on your pictures. Is it connected to the ribbon ?
Re: HxC issues with firmware versions greater than 1.8.2.40
Yes, there is a disk drive, and yes, it is or was configured as DF1 and DF2 (switchable, hence the wires on the pins at the HxC). But during the test, it wasn’t connected. I just tested everything on the Amiga 1200, and I observed exactly the same behavior of the HxC with the updates. That system doesn’t have a disk drive, and the HxC is connected by itself.
I’ve now tested all the firmware versions again, and I noticed that, as mentioned, version 1_8_2_40 works perfectly and reads the files without any errors. Versions 1_8_6_17a to 1_8_7_1a do recognize the disk file and actually start reading it, but then quite quickly produce read errors (different HFE Files tested). It’s only starting from version 1_8_8_1a that the behavior seen in the video occurs.
For every test, I used the same HFE files, and after downgrading again to version 1_8_2_40, everything worked again right away after all the tests.

Re: HxC issues with firmware versions greater than 1.8.2.40
Today I took out my Amiga 500, which has an older HXC installed (I think it's from 2014). I installed the latest software on it, and it worked immediately. So I removed the HXC and tested it in the A2000, and it also works there with the latest version. So it seems the issue lies with the two HXC units I bought together last year... The old one is also an REV C but looks different (older design?)

Thanks for the feedback. This is very interesting.HiJacker wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 5:15 pm Today I took out my Amiga 500, which has an older HXC installed (I think it's from 2014). I don't have you this new exact variant, i will contact Lotharek to see if i can get one. Anyway i have an idea, I will provide you a new firmware to test.

Please try the attached firmwares and let me know if one is working.
Re: HxC issues with firmware versions greater than 1.8.2.40
I tried both updates.
Update 0 shows only "Reading FAT..." after inserting the SD card, and this message doesn't go away — the HxC is not operable.
Unfortunately, Update 1 shows the same behavior just like the old update (1_8_8_1a) that doesn't work: it briefly reads the file and then stops.
However, I noticed that with Update 1, there's no longer a way to go back once you've entered a folder. The "..." option is unfortunately missing.
I hope this helps...
