[HxC SD Rev C] No Power on

Post by tophe38 »

Hi,

I order from Lotharek 3 PCB + Pic. At work, a good friend complete assembly.
At home, I test the board with an old Atari 520 STe.
I already own an Rev B, which work perfectly (just to be sure the computer work, and SD card is Ok).
When I plug the new rev C into the computer, it doesn't power on (no led on on the computer nor on the HxC)!

I will investigate it with the schematic and scope, but if somebody has an idea why the card prevent power on, it's welcome

Edit : Even if this first card is complete, I did not use LCD, since connector is not solder, since I don't already know if i will use a cable or plug it directly.
Is it required ?

Regards,
Christophe

bad solder?, shortcut?, missing part ?, bad resistor value for the regulator ?

Hi,

Thanks for this fast reply.

Ok, so, no real root cause, so let's dig it.

But I found this behavior really weird. Hold the host machine, no fuse clash on power supply .. well, I (and my friend)'m very confuse.

I'll back here with fresh news.

What is that smoke !!!!

We use a PC power supply to check the board, and it's smoking !!!

A track near the power plug smoke and cut, save the fuse F1.

D5 was in the wrong direction.
So we fix it, we also fix D1 D2 and D3 direction and now, it's seems Ok.

2 more board to complete ....
:D

Hi,

@Lothorek
It's not on your own, I order you only PCB and PIC, order BOM and build card on my side
It's a friend who perform soldering, which did not understand the right orientation.

The only issue from your side was on one board, where some holes from J3 were plugged.
My friend manage to clear them, solder pin for jumper.

Thanks Lothorek for supporting HxC production :D

Back to the HxC, 3 boards completed, 2 are working perfectly, 1 has a strange behavior.
It seems to work, but not. When tested with an old Atari 520 STe, track skip between 0 and 1. (I'll test the 2 others board on the same machine, with the same SD Card with success).
I will have to investigate it.
