I am trying to use a Gotek floppy emulator with a Brother BAS-311F-01S sewing machine, but I cannot get the machine to read the pattern files correctly. Actually, I still haven’t found anyone who has the same issue as me… I wonder if there actually is someone. I’m curious whether the machine is simply too old, or if Brother uses some kind of proprietary system
Current setup:
Gotek OLED model with rotary encoder
AT32F435 chipset
FlashFloppy firmware v3.42
S0 jumper enabled
USB formatted as FAT32
Problem:
The machine detects the virtual floppy image, but when entering the image I get E31 error and no .SEW files appear.
What I tested:
Original floppy disks work correctly on the Brother machine
I created IMG files from original floppy disks
IMG size is exactly 1,474,560 bytes (1.44MB)
WinImage can open the IMG correctly and all BASxx.SEW files are visible
FlashFloppy detects the IMG itself
But accessing the image causes E31 error
HxC software also gives IMG load error with these floppy images
Additional tests:
Tested with only DSKA0000.IMG in USB root
Removed FF.CFG for testing
Folder mode and IMG mode both mount, but pattern files are not readable by the machine
I suspect the Brother BAS floppy format may use a special or non-standard disk structure.
Questions:
Would HxC firmware improve compatibility with Brother BAS machines?
Should I convert the images to HFE format instead of IMG?
Are there recommended interface settings for Brother BAS systems?
Does this machine require special READY / Disk Change / Shugart settings?
