Akai S01 won't work with HxC - HELP!

Hi everybody,

My name is Marc form Holland and I am a huge vintage gear fan. Recently I acquired an old Akai S01 sampler. Since I had an spare Gotek emulator laying around I decided to replace the Teac FD-235HF A554 with the emulator. The floppy drive was working fine, but I fancied the upgrade.
Now, three days later, I'm pretty frustrated, cause I can't get the emulator to work properly. I upgraded the firmware to the latest HcX version, but every image gives the same __F error on the S01.

I've tried normal as wel as indexed and different HFE formats. The S01 boots, but I can't load, save or format the images. It starts, but the stops with the __F message.

Unfortunately I don't have a regular PC with floppy drive anymore, so I can't make an image of an original disc.

Can someone please help me out?

Try the S950 images package :

They are already formatted, you can write and read them.

The jumper must be set to S0.

Try the S950 images package :

They are already formatted, you can write and read them.

The jumper must be set to S0.

Thank you very much for your replies. Unfortunately the s950 as wel as s01 images don't seem to work. This is what I did:
1. I installed the Gotel with the latest HxC firmware
2. I Formated a USB stick Fat 32
3. The only jumper on the hotel is on s0
4.I've put the S01 images on the USB and renamed the indexed CFG file
5.The Akai boots up and the first file DSKA0000 is loaded as is should

With the stands settings I get the __F error when I try to format in 2DD as wel as in 2HD modes. The green light turns un briefly and then the error appears. I've tried different settings: Akai family, Shurgart, etc. None of them seem to work.

I know the Akai is able to function properly, because the floppy drive can format, read and write.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Don't try to format them, they are already formatted. copy again the images to the usb stick from the S01 archive. Try the DSKA0001 first.
it seems that there is something special about the floppy ribbon orientation with this machine : what can you read on the gotek screen at power up ?
