S-100 Versafloppy II not working

I am getting the oscilloscope out to adjust the oscillator that used for data separation. I'll see if that helps at all.

the data separator is not used to write to the disk.
Check the write data signal jitter.

Did you ever solve this problem? I had a similar issue with my CCS 2422 controller (8" Shugart drives). If you are still having problems, check out my posts here viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4322. The last entry summarizes my solution.
