Howdy
I went to update my firmware, and I immediately had strange behavior from the HxC SD card emulator.
First, I backed up my SD card, then I formatted it to FAT32 via windows XP and a built-in SD card reader in a laptop.
Then I put the firmware *.upd file onto the SD card.
When I powered on the machine (Ensoniq EPS sampler keyboard), the LCD displayed a row of blocks on top, and did not make any noise. The red LED was blinking constantly.
I then tried formatting the card again, and I put my old files back on to it. Same behavior...LCD displaying just a line of blocks and red led blinking constantly.
I then thought, maybe I don't have the bootlader (is there a way to check which firmware version I was running?). When I formatted the card again and put the bootloader *.upd file on there, I now get an error code 5 ... bad file.
Has this behavior ever been reported before? Is there anything else I can do? Could it be a solder problem with the LCD because I did solder a ribbon cable to the back of it to relocate it?
Thank you.

Re: Problem updating firmware
I did not know my firmware version, that's why I asked in my post if there was a way I could find out.
Good news though, it was just user error.
I was waiting for something to happen, but I didn't realise that it only makes a change after you remove your fingers from the buttons. I was holding the buttons down....waiting...waiting...waiting.... once I waited the right amount of time, and let my fingers off the L/R buttons, it beeped back to life.
It's just a little confusing because there isn't much feedback that is working.
So it works now. Thanks.

Re: Problem updating firmware
Remove the sdcard and read the messages on the lcd.jeffe wrote:I did not know my firmware version, that's why I asked in my post if there was a way I could find out.
Re: Problem updating firmware
when i tried that, it was still giving me the constantly blinking error with no info on the screen.
could i have flashed it halfway, and then left it in an unusable state?

Re: Problem updating firmware
i mean : to get the firmware version just power up the hxc, and read the messages on the lcd. Of course you need to have a firmware in the pic.jeffe wrote:when i tried that, it was still giving me the constantly blinking error with no info on the screen.

Is your device working ?
Re: Problem updating firmware
YES it is working now ;]
However, I remember trying to turn it on without an sd card and I still had the problem.
It is fine now, and maybe I did it wrong.
thank you
