PC software : ability to merge floppy images

Most Amstrad CPC and Thomson software is spread as single-sided files, while the floppies are actually 2 sides. It would be nice if it was possible to merge two .sap or .dsk files into a single HFE. Any way to do that ? Ican do it with .fd files (using cat or copy /b), but this won't work for other formats... Would be nice if the software coulddo it for me in some way.

need to find a way to integrate this in the user interface, but should be possible.
