Ensoniq Mr-73 indicates change disks

Post by steathy »

So I bought a usb Floppy emulator - SFRKC30.AT4.35 that has the latest Flash floppy firmware (3.42)

it's able to format a disk but when I save to the drive from the keyboard (MR76) it will come up with 'change disks'.

I have tried changing the pin configuration, but it only works with the original config (S1 and J5/JA tide together) that came with it installed.

I have tried both the quick install files - MR61/MR76 and the PC config files. same issues.

renamed images from HcX to img ,that didn't work

I then found another topic where they had run the emulator software to edit the config file, but had to download the driver app for usb type emulators, in order to edit the config file, changing to stugard type of disk, But you had to connect the emulator to the pc that had the software installed onto it before you could edit the file, which I found a bit strange. That I haven't yet done, I have to find a PC that has a floppy header on it - they are getting pretty rare these days.

So I was hoping that the HxC wizard Jeff can help me out. Or at least someone who has the same issues as I

so finally got the unit to work. the Jac pin needs to be active before you can save/load to a freshly formatted image.

still cant get previous created images of floppies to be seen by the unit but being able to save and load is the first step in this adventure.

You don't have the hxc firmware installed, that's why the images and config files provided here don't work.
You can install it with an usb stick if you want:
https://hxc2001.com/store/getlic.html
https://hxc2001.com/docs/gotek-floppy-e ... ick-method
(no need to set the JC jumper with the hxc firmware)

btw you wrote "MR-73". Do you mean "MR-76" ?

Can you share one of your working images here in a zip file ?
