The zip file ? There is a kind of malediction somewhere i think ! :lol:

I suppose you have some kind of antivirus or something like this ?

(Of course the zip is not empty, it contains the .exe)

New firmware to test : update to this firmware and please write to all QD files present into the archive and post them here. This firmware now capture the special write sequences.

Are you sure you have updated the firmware ? I don't see any blank/erased part in the files ?

(The ready window in DSKA0000.QD and DSKA0001.QD are too short. All others files CRC are valid.)

To check that you have the right version flashed :

-> Remove the stick
-> Press both buttons
-> Choose 'F'
-> Then the four numbers of the version will be displayed : You should have 3, 4, 1 and 12

hi, new set of files...some small progress
I can save a sample with a name (AA) which fails, but I can sometimes do a F2 Load that checks the Gotek and reads back the name correctly
It wont load the full disk and it usually gives illegal QD or I/O Error 2
Any more traces I can do?

oh yes sorry just saw the blanked zone now. At least we know now where they are : They are right after the blocks ( which is equal to : right before the preambles) . But they are sorter than expected. I will post some files to try to read in some minutes.

Yes we are not too far ;). Avoid to test the images 0000 and 0001, the ready window is too short. Use the 0002/0003/0004/0005

Is 0004 loading reliable ? (try 10 times if possible)
If so, try to remove the pull up resistor and retry to read it.

0004 loads reliably time after time, and ok without pull up resistor.

I have noticed one change needed:
The full QD read after a F1 Load needs to be delayed until after the check read has gone to the end of the QD and stopped. At the moment I can hit Load during the check read and it stops with Illegal QD, because the Gotek has allowed a read during a read

Sequence should be:
F1 Load
Sampler reads the QD bank name AND continues to the end of the bank/disk - takes another 3 seconds or so
Any pressing of Load during this time is delayed to start reading until this first QD read has stopped
Once the check read has fully completed to the end of the Bank, a full Load can take place, and the sampler reads the QD bank into memory

Hope that helps!
