I'll send you the hfe files to your email address. Also the board layout / pictures.

Sven

there are a true (and important bug) in the firmware.
Firmware update next week.

thanks for reporting it !
Good to hear that I could help you. Looking forward to the firmware update. I'll report my findings as soon as I have had a chance to check it out.

Backlight on/off

Post by Pryanick »

Hi jf
Russian funs of ZX Specturm ask you to add one usefull feature to the new firmware version under PIC18F4525/4620.
The point is backlight automatic on/off depending on buttons was pushed or wasnt pushed.
We have free pin - RB5 (pin38)
Can you add a procedure for RB5 control? When device is power on - backlight is ON too, and when no buttons was pushed for 10 seconds - backlight is OFF. When any button pushed - backlight is ON, and again - when no buttons was pushed for 10 seconds - backlight is OFF.

Thank you

Bonjour Jeff,

I have now successfully tested write operations using 256, 512 and 1024 bytes/sector (250 kbits/s and 500 kbits/s) and all test were successful except the one I sent to you to your private email address. Excellent work!

Best regards,
Sven

in fact my plan is to reduce the cost of the device so i need to remove parts (lcd will be optionnal), and in the final version RB5 is used.

Hi Jeff
About your plans...
When do you plan finish the final SD-card floppy emulator? I think that schematic will be changed. Some additional features need more PIC resources. Does it mean that final SD-card floppy emulator version will work only under PIC18F4620? May be you have some schematic draft or rough schematic copy just to take a look on it for PCB changes? And what new features we will see in final SD-card floppy emulator version?
Thank you

it's mostly a cost reduction work : some part change, no more 7805, floppy interface logic changed, lcd no more on the pcb (pcb will connected through a he10 connector). the mcu will be the same. The pcb must be smaller, and the bom reduced.

Why these questions ? i hope that you or someone else didn't plan to make a production batch of the prototype ?

I have now successfully implemented the /WPT signal, was very easy (just a few lines of code in ihm.c). Now if the SD card is write protected the system (e.g. DOS) reports that the floppy is write protected. With this option for me the emulator is now 150% perfect ! :-)

I am interested in building 1 or 2 of the SD versions of the HxC for my own private use. It would be easier for me to have a PCB made with gerbers or an Eagle board file than a pdf. I understand this project is still a prototype and subject to change. Would it be possible for someone to send me the PCB file (with the owners full permission of course)?

Thanks,
-Jeff
