Confused on SD CARD version component description

Post by Shined »

Hi,
I was looking at the SD Card version of the HxC floppy emulator and found something a little confusing in one of the component descriptions, being a bit of a newb when it comes to electronics I thought I'd better ask.

On the schematic for the SD card version it shows an LCD 16 x 2, cool no probs there um but hang on it says its a Stripped display.

OH.... Stripped in that something has been removed from it? or could this mean Striped as in two lines, I realize many of you will go DUH don't be such a moron but I just don't know what its meant to mean.

Please help.

this means that pin 7,8,9,10 are not on the schematic and the pcb (pins not used) -> layout easier to make.

why?

Thanks Jeff that explains it, based on that Ive managed to find some LCDs locally quite cheap. Could you also tell me are there any traces on the board which are timing specific I.E that need to remain the same length for timing reasons or can I enter the schematic back into software and shrink it down as small as I like.

Cheers again.

To make it smaller so I can more in a production run, I want to build 10 for my 2 Amiga 2000s, an Amiga 3000 and an Amiga 1200.

i will released the final version soon, and i will make some batch.
The firmware of the prototype board will not be supported anymore once the final schematic/board is released.

Will the final version still be...
Freely available here, its easier and cheaper to build it here because freight is so darn expensive.
Based on the 18F4525?

yes this will be based on the 18f4525/18f4620. most parts are the same (sdcard + 3 buttons + 16*2lcd) but gpio and floppy interface circuit (74ls...) change. there are nomore 5V regulator.

For the fact you are putting in all this hard work and yet still letting people build them themselves which is quite the philanthropic gesture I would just like to say thank you very much.

it's not a "philanthropic gesture " but i don't have the choice with this kind of project ("homebrew" mode) ->
if you don't release something, this is what i call a vaporware ;-)

Anyway don't forget that this project is not a "freeware" project (read the license agreement).

I apologize I have not seen the license agreement as of yet, do you have a link to it?
