J3 set as Drive A:\
pins 04-08
http://pinouts.ru/Storage/InternalDisk_pinout.shtml
/DRVSA -> pin 14

so in pc mode A: -> jumper at 02-06
and if you used a twisted cable -> jumper at 03-07

what is exactly the problem, and how do you reproduce it ? (step per step explanation please-> i don't know too much about the zx spectrum)

Regarding the write error can you do this for me ?:
-> convert a scl or a trd file to hfe and keep a copy of this hfe file.
-> try to write to the hfe file with the zxspectrum (by creating a file on the floppy for example)
-> and send me the scl/trd file, the original hfe file (not modified) and the modified hfe file.

thanks

Setting J3 to 02-06 showed perfect result - I can bootup from the image msdos.hfe that you gave me :) Copy, Move, Delete - all working fine on PC.
Image-files for Spectrum (original and modified) I sent to your e-mail, Jeff.

1. Convert SCL or TRD image to HFE-file.
2. Switch ON Spectrum.
3. Install HFE-file.
4. Run Quick Commander from shadow ROM.
5. Copy files from installed image. Spectrum says - insert destination disk.
6. Install another image-HFE-file and press Enter.
7. Copying to destination disk and now I get error Tr.:0, Sec.:0.

The same situation when I want to delete files from installed HFE-image-file. I press Delete and get the same error.

and what is this problem ? :
"And one more thing: there are a huge number of *.SCL & *.TRD games images, when image-file cotain only one separate game (not entire TR-DOS 720k disk). After installing such image-file Spectrum can't see it. Running Quick Commander from the shadow ROM solves this problem. "

ok thanks,

i have just dumped all hfe files to trd files and didn't see any error :

in 000_SCL_mod.hfe you have deleted one (or two) file : cavelon
and
in !SILK_4M_SCL_mod.hfe there are one working intro added.

all these hfe files seems ok : no sector error, and the file system seems intact. It's like the write process was successful !?!

Note : i used a pc to dump hfe file and the fuse emulator to test trd files.

if you reset our zx spectrum with the modified hfe file (!SILK_4M_SCL_mod.hfe for example) can you read it ?

Deleting one file from 000_SCL_mod.hfe was ok and I thought that the problem may be solved (yesterday I recompiled firmware). After deleting that file I tried to delete one more file and got usual error and can't read modified 000_SCL_mod.hfe
I installed another image !SILK_4M_SCL_mod.hfe and successfully copied one file and seemed to me that I can't understand what hardware results in this problem - ZX Spectrum or Floppy Emulator. Then I tried to delete file which I just copied and got error again.
That is the problem - I can't read modified files.
If I reset our zx spectrum with the modified hfe file (!SILK_4M_SCL_mod.hfe for example) I can't read it. And 000_SCL_mod.hfe too. Every time when I try to read modified files I got error Tr.:0, Sec.:0 or Tr.:0, Sec.:3 or Tr.:0, Sec.:9
