Read / Write?

Post by slipperbloke »

:?:
This may well be the most idiotic question but I have looked everywhere on your website and forum and can find no mention of "writing files" to the SD emu card!
I understand that existing files need to be converted and transferred to the card, but can new files be written to the card just as you would to the original FD?

Thanks, slipperbloke

Yes :
- Read / Write support
Track mode based floppy emulator (Full track pre-encoded in the HFE image file)
> Read support: Most of existing formats (FM/MFM/Amiga track...) supported. Custom tracks supported.
> Write support: ISO MFM 256/512/1024Bytes sector write supported.
> Amiga Write support (please read the firmware release notes!)

Roland MC-50 sequencer. The file/disc types are compatible with the XP-80, and I know that the SD emu works with that machine.

FYI Below is the reply to my initial inquiry:

please, check my www and contact Jeff at forum if necessary = works with other rolands. i`m rather 8bit junkie - he will know better :-)

ps."This "should" work with the floppy emulator, since the Roland XP-80 used ms-dos type floppy disk.

However, nobody has tested it on this synth. "

if it's a msdos type this should works without problem.

:?: Hi Jeff,
SD Emu has arrived but I am having trouble converting my existing MC50 files into HFEs as the software keeps telling me that the "Image file is not supported" each time I attempt to drag an item into the conversion window. Even .mid files don't seem to work.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is the file type really unsupported?
Must all files go through the conversion process or can I simply copy them from floppy to SD card?

Help!

can you send me some MD50 file image please ? (https://hxc2001.com/contactus/ )

Regarding the mid files you probably must create a msdos floppy.
To do this :
-> use the "Create FS Floppy" function and choose "720KB MS DOS FAT12".
After this select the folder containing your mid files.

I managed to convert the MC50 files I require to .hfe files last night by using the Load Raw Data option, however the HSESDCFG.CFG file is still not being recognised whem I insert the SD card in the slot on the Emu.

You must format the sdcard in fat32.
The user manual is here :

The only option on my format page was simply FAT (no number) so I did that. Is the "32" criucial?
