HxC Floppy Emulator and SMC files on a Super UFO

Post by zektor »

Well, I received a Super UFO backup unit today and decided to try the HxC with it. The backup device does utilize .SMC file format, which is a good thing.

After booting the Super UFO, the file select menu DOES see whatever .smc file I mount to the HxC, but when I try to load it, I get "File Err" on the screen of the Super UFO.

I know this is a longshot, but does anybody have any ideas? I would love to get this running! Thanks!

EDIT:

Nevermind. Fixed my own problem :)

Turns out the few romfiles I have tested are not the correct format (maybe they are just named .smc and are not true smc files) as a few others I found on the net do load fine on the UFO. Good to know it works with it however :)

Just an update:

I posted some shots of the HxC running on the UFO here:

The funny thing is that many .smc files are not immediately compatible with the UFO device, so I have been using inSNESt (a SNES rom utility) to convert the .smc files to the UFO format...which was originally .FIG

After the convert, I have to rename these .FIG files back to .SMC of course, just so that the HxC Floppy Emulator software can recognize the extension. They work fine after this.

Basically, if the .FIG extension was simply added to the software the need for the renaming would go away :) The software obviously handles .fig's just fine as long as they are renamed to .smc!
