Gotek fails with USB drive blinking

Hi,

Suddenly, my Gotek doesn't work anymore on my Amiga. It displays "000". The red and green light are almost off. When it waits at the kickstart boot screen, the red light blinks quickly every second (just as a real drive would click). But the LED on my USB stick blinks continuously. Same happens with another stick. I still have HXCSDFE.CFG and AUTOBOOT.HFE at the root, and the filesystem isn't corrupted. The drive doesn't seem to be detected at all.

I must precise that my Gotek is used externally, in the box of an old floppy drive. I also have a DF0/DF1 inverter. Everything used to work perfectly.

NB: At some point, the Gotek LCD showed a single dot (!) in the middle of the screen. I didn't know what to do, so I reflashed the same firmware again (HxCFEUSB_V5_2_3_1a.UPD). It flashed well, then it failed identically.

Any hint, before I tear everything down to make further diagnostic?

As a further test, I used the HXCFEMNG.exe tool (from SDCard_HxC_Floppy_Emulator_Manager.zip) to edit the HXCSDFE.CFG file from the USB stick. I added 2 valid ADF images as slot 1 and 2. When I put the USB stick into the Gotek, I can successfully cycle between 0/1/2 slots using the 2 buttons. I notice that on slot 0, the USB stick keeps blinking. But on slots 1 and 2, it just blinks a few seconds. I'm starting to understand that the continuous blink on slot 0 might be normal operation.

So, on the Gotek side, it seems that everything works well. But the big issue is still here: the drive is still not detected by the Amiga.

Don't bother. I tested my DF0/DF1 switch with the ohmmeter, and one side appears to be defective (no contact at all). I will replace it.
